Sailun tyre is a Chinese tyre manufacturer that was founded by a team of Chinese entrepreneurs. This rubber company started a partnership with the Qingdao University of Science and Technology to give an employment pathway to rubber engineers from that university. Sailun opened up its first tyre manufacturing plant in Vietnam during 2014 and began construction of a 2nd Vietnamese in 2015. In 2016 this 2nd factory would produce its first TBR tyre and become operational, it was noted by Sailun that this factory was partly constructed to avoid US tariffs on Chinese made tyres. In 2018 an agreement was formed with Cooper tyres to have the Vietnamese arm of Sailun to produce Cooper truck and bus radial tyres.
